Haltet euch fest – das hier ist der Knaller!
Wenn Regenbogenflaggen das Stadtbild Kölns schmücken, bunt gekleidete Menschen auf Trucks tanzen, die Luft mit Endorphinen getränkt ist und rund 800.000 Menschen das Leben und die Vielfalt feiern, dann ist klar: Es ist Cologne Pride!
Wie bereits in den Vorjahren, sind wir als Vertreter*innen der Kölner Hochschulen natürlich auch wieder mit dabei. Dieses Mal werden wir allerdings lauter und bunter sein als jemals zuvor. Wir haben uns zusammengeschlossen, um mit euch gemeinsam ein Zeichen zu setzen, das sich gewaschen hat.

Damit wir es so richtig krachen lassen können, werden wir nicht mit einem, sondern mit zwei! Trucks und angeschlossenen Fußgruppen an den Start gehen. „Musik verbindet.“ Dass dieser Gedanke stimmt, werden wir an diesem Tag unter Beweis stellen. Auf beiden Trucks werden euch Dj*anes die Bässe um die Ohren hauen und die Kölner Innenstadt zur Tanzzone erklären.
Natürlich wollen wir auch nicht vergessen, warum wir auf die Straße gehen. „coming out in DEINEM Style“ heißt das offizielle Motto des Cologne Pride 2018. Es erinnert daran, dass unsere Geschlechtsidentität und unsere sexuelle Orientierung wichtige Teile unseres Seins sind, für den nur wir selbst die Expert*innen sind. Demnach muss es jedem Menschen freigestellt sein, ob, wann, wie oder wo er diese individuelle Eigenschaft mit Anderen teilt. Damit diese persönliche Freiheit tatsächlich existieren kann, müssen sich Politik und Gesellschaft öffnen, um bereit zu sein – bereit für all die aufregenden, tollen und individuellen Coming-out-Geschichten, die wir gerne erzählen würden. In der Realität jedoch geht das Coming-out oft einher mit Ängsten, Zweifeln, Unsicherheiten, Identitäskrisen und nicht zuletzt mit tatsächlich erlebter Diskriminierung und Ausgrenzung. Toleranz ist ein instabiles Konstrukt, das an der nächsten Straßenecke ins Nichts verschwinden kann. Hier braucht es mehr Aufklärung, mehr finanzielle Unterstützung für soziale Einrichtungen, die sich auf diesen Themenbereich spezialisiert haben, mehr Empathie und Solidarität, mehr Respekt und Fairness bei der Ausgestaltung von Gesetzen und letztlich mehr Kommunikation – mit uns anstatt über uns. All das verbirgt sich hinter dem diesjährigen Motto des Cologne Pride und auch wir sagen JA zum „coming out in DEINEM style“.
Zudem werden wir pro Wagen ein eigenes Motto formulieren – dazu bald mehr.

Hold on tight – this is going to be a wild ride!
When rainbow flags decorate the cityscape of Cologne, colorfully dressed people dance on trucks, the air becomes saturated with endorphins and 800,000 people celebrate life and diversity, there’s only one explanation: it’s Cologne Pride!
As in previous years, we as representatives of the Cologne universities will of course be joining in. This time, though, we’ll be louder and more colorful than ever. Together with you we have planned a day that none of us will forget!
Introducing this year’s CSD family:

○ AStA of the College of Music and Dance
So that we can really let it rip, we have not only one truck prepared, but two, plus connected foot groups to live up the party. „Music connects” is the idea and we aim to prove that true. On both trucks Dj*anes will hit you with the bass and declare the city center of Cologne a dance area that can’t be missed.
Of course we won’t forget why we’re on the street to begin with. „Coming out in YOUR style“ is the official motto of the Cologne Pride 2018. It reminds us that our gender identity and our sexual orientation are important parts of our identities in which only we, ourselves, can define. Thus, it must be up to each person to decide, whether, when, how, where, or why he shares this individual understanding with others. For this personal freedom to actually exist, politics and society must open up and be ready – ready for all the exciting, fantastic, and deeply individual coming-out stories we’d like to tell. In reality, however, the coming-out often goes hand in hand with the fears, doubts, uncertainties, identity crises, and last but not least, discrimination and exclusion actually experienced. Tolerance is an unstable construct that can vanish into nothingness in the blink of an eye. It needs more education and more financial support for social institutions specializing in this subject area, more empathy and solidarity, more respect and fairness in designing laws, and ultimately more communication – with us instead of about us. All this is hidden behind this year’s motto of Cologne Pride and we give an enthusiastic YES to „coming out in YOUR style“.
In addition, we will formulate a separate motto per vehicle – more to come soon.
